Firm Sense is a coaching, consulting and training company serving the professional services sector, particularly lawyers and law firms.  We are based in the UK.  For the purposes of EU data protection legislation, Firm Sense Limited is the controller of personal information submitted by users of this website ("Users") and may be contacted via Sally Dyson by email to sallydyson@firmsense.co.uk, by phone to +44 20 7681 4181 or by post at 167-169 Great Portland Street, 5th Floor, London W1W 5PF.  

How we collect personal information

We may collect personal information from Users in a variety of ways, including, but not limited to, when Users visit our website, register on the website, place an order, subscribe to a newsletter, respond to a survey, fill out a form or participate in other activities, services, features or resources we make available. Users may visit our website anonymously. We will collect personal identification information from Users only if they voluntarily submit such information to us. Users can always refuse to supply personal identification information but that may prevent them from engaging in certain website related activities.

Information that is gathered from Users

In common with other websites, log files are stored on the web server saving details such as a User's IP address, browser type, referring page and time of visit. 

Additionally, we may collect and store information about you when you are in contact with or use Firm Sense.  We may use the information to fulfil your requests, provide functionality, improve quality, personalise your experience, track usage, display relevant advertising, market Firm Sense , provide customer support, send messages to you, secure or back-up our systems, enable disaster recovery, comply with legal obligations and pursue our legitimate business interests as decribed above.

Where we hold information

Firm Sense is a UK -based company.  Your personal information will usually be stored in the UK.  There may be occasions when we need to transfer, process or store your personal information outside the UK or European Union in order to provide services that you have requested, particularly if you are based outside the European Union, or if we engage with third party suppliers whose data servers are located outside the European Union.  Any such third parties that we work with have confirmed that they have adopted Standard Contractual Clauses approved by the European Commission. 

How we protect your information

  • We adopt appropriate data collection, storage and processing practices and security measures to protect against unauthorised access, alteration, disclosure or destruction of your personal information.
  • Our website operates on a secure Linux server which is updated on a daily basis with any operating system updates or security patches that need applying.
  • Although we take reasonable measures to protect your personal information we cannot guarantee its security.

How long we keep your information

We retain your personal information for as long as necessary to meet our legitimate business interests.  We will respect and give effect to any request from you to unsubscribe from our email service but may maintain information about you for the purposes authorised under this privacy policy unless prohibited by law. 

Public information and social media

We may publish blogs on our website.  Any information you include in a comment on our blog may be read, collected and used by anyone.  Our website may also include social media features such as "follow us" buttons. These features may collect information about your IP address and which page you are visiting on our website and they may set a cookie to make such features function properly.  We also maintain  presence on social media platforms such as Twitter and LinkedIn.  Any information you submit to us via a social media platform is done at your own risk and without any expectation of privacy.  We cannot control the actions of these platforms or their users and your interactions with these platforms are governed by their terms and policies.

Users may find advertising or other content on our website that links to the websites and services of our partners, suppliers, advertisers, sponsors, licensors and other third parties. We do not control the content or links that appear on these websites and are not responsible for the practices employed by websites linked to or from our website. You are entitled to request access to your personal information,  to request that we correct or restrict our use of your personal information or that we delete the personal information (subject to any requirement for us to retain the information in compliance with law or in connection with a claim.) If you are unhappy with our use of your personal information, please let us know so we can resolve the issue.  You may also complain to a data protection authority.

We reserve the right to update this privacy policy at any time. We encourage Users to check this page regularly for any changes and to stay informed about how we are helping to protect the personal information we collect. You acknowledge and agree that it is your responsibility to review this privacy policy periodically and to make yourself aware of modifications.
